When I was a kid, my parents bought us two sheep for the Puyallup Fair. I wasn’t much of a shepherd back then—I spent most of that summer being dragged around the pen. I’m still not much of a shepherd, but I’ve learned a thing or two about wool.
If you’ve ever spent time with old-timer outdoorsmen and women, you’ve probably heard it: Layer up in wool. And for good reason. Wool wicks moisture, insulates even when wet, and—maybe best of all—it’s naturally antimicrobial, so it doesn’t stink up after a few hard days on the trail.
Our new Woolie follows the same trusted pattern as the classic Squak, but it’s built from a next-level fabric blend: 85% Merino wool for breathability and odor resistance, 12% nylon for durability, and 3% spandex for a touch of stretch. At 150 GSM, it’s a bit warmer than a base layer—more of a lightweight mid-layer or sweatshirt—perfect for shoulder seasons or layering up when the temps dip.
Turn your garment inside out, wash gently with cool water and mild detergent. Air-dry when you can, or use low/no heat in the dryer. Skip the bleach, softeners, high heat, or dry cleaning — your gear’s got enough adventure as it is.
You can return any item within 30 days of delivery as long as it’s unused, in original condition, and has the tag still attached.

And I have several of them! Fit is perfect, material is soft and cozy, great temperature regulation. I
LOVE it so much! Worn on a few fall hikes and it was the perfect layer. More colors please 😊 Black, blue, blurple...
I love base layers, layering, hoodies, thumbholes, and wool. This checks the boxes. The visual fit isn’t the most flattering, but the warmth and comfort outweigh that. It fits true to size. I measure ~ 35’’ on my bust and ~ 26’’ on my waist; small fits well with room to wear a thin layer or two underneath. I ordered charcoal to be able to keep it cleaner looking, but I just might order the other color, too.
Love the women’s Woolie! Great layer for hiking, biking and skiing. Like the thumb holes. Fits larger than the Ultralight.
All in all, I like this top - it's warm and functionally it's designed very well. I especially like the thumb loopholes that are reinforced and the overall length for arms and body feel very true to size. They did not skimp on length either for the sleeve or body length on the women's cut, which is much appreciated for extra warmth. For reference, I'm 5'3" 120lb and wear a Small. There's still room underneath for thinner layers, but still looks fitted enough to be worn as a first layer. After a couple washes (and hang drying) it also seems like the material is quality and holding up like it was brand new - no piling or anything like some other merino wool products I've had.
The only thing I wish could change is that the material feels a tiny bit scratchy to me; I know it's wool but I wish it were a little softer. I don't notice it too much during activities but it's not the first layer I tend to reach to for a merino wool layer if I want to be cozying up for the day. Also, more colors would be nice :)
Stats: 5’5”, 125lb 34B, athletic build. I bought a size Small and it worked great for me. It’s looser in the shoulders and narrower in the hips but that gave me room to move climbing etc and it fit smoothly under my climbing harness and backpack waist strap. The fabric is beautiful, not too thin or too heavy, nice smooth tight knit a great base layer or year round piece. It’s not scratchy at all and washed up beautifully. Definitely grab it if you are on the fence, you won’t be disappointed!
Excited to hear this piece has become a go-to in your outdoor wardrobe! That's awesome the Small worked great for your athletic build, giving you the movement needed for climbing while fitting smoothly under your harness and pack strap. We're glad you love the beautiful fabric—a great, smooth, non-scratchy piece that washes up well!
