Women’s Classic Squak – Grid Fleece Mid-Layer Hoodie

I love this hoodie! So soft and the sleeve are long enough for me. That’s hard to come by as a tall lady.

We used these fleeces on a 40-day, 400-mile canoe trip on the Coppermine River, and they performed exceptionally well. They worked great both on their own and as a mid-layer under a puffer or rain jacket. The fleece was an ideal weight for active paddling, and when they did get wet, it dried quickly, which was much appreciated on this trip.

The hoods fit easily over our whitewater helmets, and the cinch adjustment was really nice as it helped to keep the wind out. The thumb holes were also great, and were in the right position/size which is an issue I have had with other brands.

If you’re planning to wear multiple layers underneath, I would recommend sizing up, otherwise, the size chart is accurate for wearing a single base layer.

As expected after an extended active trip with no access to a washer, all our gear picked up odors. The fleeces did seem to retain smell slightly more than some other pieces, though this may have been due to wearing them straight out of the shipping box without washing. After one standard wash cycle, all odor was completely gone.

Okay, so the pnw winter this year is barely wintering, but I bought this with spring in mind and now cant stop wearing it through the mild winter. Saving for another one as we speak!
