Backstory (TL;DR: We made a bottle)
A few months back, we spotted someone on Instagram frustrated about not being able to find a skinny bottle that was both durable and lightweight. They wanted something like a mix between a Nalgene and a disposable Smart Water bottle. That post racked up thousands of likes and dozens of comments, and we thought, ‘hey, maybe we could make that happen.’
It’s that kind of thinking that got us into this wild adventure in the first place—filling up our basements with gear, late-night packaging sessions, and marathon chats with manufacturers 🤪.
We reached out to a bunch of manufacturers and finally found one that could almost make exactly what we envisioned. We would’ve loved to use UL HDPE plastic, but selling the MOQ of 20,000 bottles felt a little out of reach. So, we pivoted. And now, here we are, dipping our toes into hydration with something we’re really excited about.

Meet the Squaker Bottle - the ultimate companion for anyone who's had enough of battling tight backpack pockets or oversized, clunky bottles. Bought this right before a trip to Patagonia and I have been living in it. Fit is perfect, love the hood shape, and it’s just a dang good sweater all around. Barely can feel it in my pack!
Sounds like that sweater held up well on your Patagonia trip! We're glad it proved to be a reliable layer for your adventures. Thanks for sharing!
This is a very high-quality water bottle. I'll probably be buying several more in the future! I own several 32 oz nalgenes but wanted something slimmer that would do a better job fitting in my backpack pockets. Most of my backpacks do accommodate a standard nalgene, but what happens is they often do this by allowing the bottle to press into the pack, thus removing internal space. I am happy to say that this bottle's slimmer form factor mitigates that issue and is a lot easier to slip in and out of my side pockets! I've found it also fits in my car's cup holder which was a great discovery.
In addition, I can say that whatever plastic this is made out of, it feels very sturdy, even sturdier than my nalgenes. The cap in particular feels much more solid and just overall better quality than my other water bottles.
Otherwise, my only comment on it is that the printed design (logo+measurements) is subtle as the darkened color of the bottle does not contrast strongly with the dark green design. Certainly not an issue or anything, especially if you like toned down designs.
Hey Caleb! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with our water bottle. We're stoked to hear it's hitting the trail with you and solving that backpack space issue – nothing beats a streamlined kit! We totally get the Nalgene love, and we're thrilled you're finding ours even sturdier. Your feedback means a ton.
We appreciate the note on the logo; your input will help us refine things. We're always listening!
Happy trails, and we look forward to seeing you with more of our gear in the future! Keep exploring!
Finally, someone made a Nalgene-like bottle with the narrower dimensions of a 1 litter Smart Water bottle. This is going to be so much easier to fit in the smaller side water bottle pockets of modern backpacks. I've already posted on Facebook to my hiking friends. I may buy more, just to give away as gifts.
I've included a photo to show the size comparison of the Squaker versus a 1 liter Smart Water bottle and a 32oz. Nalgene.
Hey David and Moose! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the photo comparison. Glad the Squaker's size is working out for your pack. We appreciate you spreading the word to your hiking buddies!
The squak is a perfect layer for skiing, rock climbing, and hiking. It is lightweight, portable, and it also looks cool. It fits great, and has slightly longer sleeves, always a plus. The only thing I would change about it would be adding a small fabric loop to tuck in the excess cinch cord, but all in all this is a great fleece.
Thanks for the feedback Alek! We're stoked to hear it's working well for your skiing, climbing, and hiking adventures. We appreciate the suggestion about the cinch cord loop – that's a great idea! Happy trails!
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect daily water bottle for years. I forget where I first saw these; likely a YouTuber that reviews hiking gear but, as soon as I saw it, I knew I needed to try it.
Received a couples weeks ago and I’ve been taking two to work. One with an LMNT packet in it and one with water. They fit in the cup holders in my Audi (which is a miracle!) and they also fit great in the side pockets of my daily carry bag… I’ve also taken one of these on day hikes and they work great for short stints. They’re a bit heavy for a long section or thru-hike.
Either way. Get one. It’s worth the investment.
That's awesome Mike! We're stoked to hear you've found your perfect daily water bottle. It's great to know it's working well for your work routine and day hikes. Thanks for sharing your experience and the recommendation!
