We love our overseas manufacturers, but we've always wanted to try making something here. So we did it! The Maverick Alpha is proudly made in the USA. And, we've got to say, it feels good supporting local businesses while creating rad gear for ultralight enthusiasts.
Premium Alpha Direct Fabric
If you know, you know—Polartec Alpha Direct is hard to come by. We secured a big batch of Forest Green in 90 GSM, along with limited runs of 60 and 120 GSM in select colors.
Originally developed in 2012 for the U.S. Military, Polartec Alpha Direct is the ultimate active insulation—warm when you need it, breathable when you don’t.

Sizing: I own the original squak in an XL. I normally wear a large, but had to size up. With the maverick, it’s more true to size in my opinion. I ordered the XL and it was oversized. Squak was nice enough to let me exchange for a Large and it fit great. I would say stick with your normal size on the maverick.
Overall it’s a great baselayer for sleeping. I enjoy this more than my smartwool while sleeping. When it’s chilly in the mornings and your tempted to put your coat on for backpacking, this is the perfect layer to where you can continue on and not have to worry about removing it aster 15 minutes. It does a great job of wicking sweat a way and keeps you at a good temp. I do wish it had thumb holes and a bag for washing. You have to be careful washing so it doesn’t snag. Besides that, this thing is great. Made in USA is a plus for me.

Currently using the Alpha 60 every day during my thru hike of the Appalachian Trail. Very light, dries quick and goes in my pack every day. Can’t stop the Squak!

5'10'', 180 lb male. Bought an XL, was worried it would be too big. Turned out perfect as a comfy, casual top layer that is not too tight. Warm enough but still breathable for working up a sweat on cold but sunny days. If I bought again (which I probably will), might size down for a more snug fit for less bulk when I want to layer over it (or lose a couple pounds...)
