We love our overseas manufacturers, but we've always wanted to try making something here. So we did it! The Maverick Alpha is proudly made in the USA. And, we've got to say, it feels good supporting local businesses while creating rad gear for ultralight enthusiasts.
Premium Alpha Direct Fabric
If you know, you know—Polartec Alpha Direct is hard to come by. We secured a big batch of Forest Green in 90 GSM, along with limited runs of 60 and 120 GSM in select colors.
Originally developed in 2012 for the U.S. Military, Polartec Alpha Direct is the ultimate active insulation—warm when you need it, breathable when you don’t.

Which GSM is Right for You?
- 60 GSM – The lightest and most breathable option. Great for high-output activities, but more see-through.
- 90 GSM – A versatile middle ground. Ideal for most conditions, balancing warmth and breathability.
- 120 GSM – Still ultralight, but offers a bit more warmth and coverage for cooler adventures.

***The fit is very similar to our classic Squak hoodie, except for the 120 GSM, which runs snugger than expected due to the thicker material. If you’re between sizes or prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.***
You can return any item within 30 days of delivery as long as it’s unused, in original condition, and has the tag still attached.

Damaged or something off? As part of the return process you can mark your product as damaged. We handle these case by case but always do our best to make it right.

Wow this is my everything base layer! Keeps me warm over my sun hoodie on mountain peaks under my rain gear and in my sleeping bag. So comfortable and fuzzy! I use it on trails, at work, and home. It’s part of my permanent hiking gear! This hoodie is so warm in my sleeping bag down to 20 degrees F. I just wish I had a pair of matching alpha ultralight pants/sweats. So it fits me perfectly not too tight or loose. I’m a woman who loves how men’s medium fits.

I recently used the Maverick as a Backcountry layer for an Appalachian fly
fishing trip. Early morning at camp in the low 50s and packed in my daypack
for the all day in the stream backup piece in my daypack. I wore a light synthetic shirt underneath at camp and was surprised at the warmth of the combo. I feel confident the Maverick and an ultralight rain jacket would keep me warm in the 40's and while moving slowly up a stream fly fishing. I am 5'11 and weigh 175 and
the Large fit me well.

The Maverick is such a versatile hoodie because it can keep you warm but also cool, and it’s super light weight. I’ve also been able to wear it under a rain jacket and it’s very breathable! I’ve had several nights that I’ve worn it to sleep because it’s so comfortable.
