Breathable and warm, fits great!

I really like this sweater. I have tried a ton of power grid fleece sweaters over the years. This one is one of the best most comfortable well cut and warm/breathable sweaters I have tried. The last one I had that was good in terms of warmth and breathability was a very poorly cut Everlast one from Sears. This one feels like that but is really well cut. I have a long torso and this fits me really well! I really like this squak fleece! I definitely will be back!

Hands Down warmth-to-weight ratio!

For the past month I have been wearing my Maverick Alpha Ultralight hoodie in various ways; alone, wicking shirt underneath, vest on top, inside and outdoors. I love, love this hoodie as it is so light, packable and versatile for my outdoor excursions. Oh and so affordable! I am always cold(even in the summer) so purchased the 120 GSM in steele grey men's medium. The women's 120 only came in orange, too bright for me. I am 5'4", 140 lbs and the men's medium was a great fit, not stretchy but not tight or restricting either. The warmth-to-weight ratio is outstanding. Nothing in the past has kept me warmer without overheating and getting sweaty. No issues with material after several washings, dries super fast! This will be a stable in my everyday bag. If you are in-between sizes or like to layer size up. Also, keep the Squak logo on bottom band, not on arm or chest as in the past.

Superb layer

Thank you Squak for your great communication over my questions in ordering this as well as the nice note you wrote me with the hoodie! Very pleased also with the sticker that came along with my order :)

This is an incredibly comfortable piece of clothing, and I am so glad I found it! I have only had it about a week but it's already been on a hike, out shopping, to church, around the house and more as a great layer this spring.

I ordered mine in Puget Grey, which could just as easily be named Stormcloud Grey as it has some muted deep blue and purple tones, especially when worn with complementary colors. My first thought in picking it up was, "wow, this is a comfortable fabric!" It is soft to the touch and has a good bit of stretch in it as well. Both the outside and the inside feel nice, with my wife often running her hands over it while I'm wearing it. I have already had several people tell me the waffle design looked warm and comfy, and I agree! I really like the cinchable hood, which can turn it into a kind of makeshift buff around my neck if I want. The thumb holes are also well-lined and were a big reason in me going for this over a similar layer from Mountain Hardwear. Their construction actually helped me deal with some chafing on my trekking poles, so +1 for that! The pouch on the front is much larger than I've seen on other hoodies, especially as the bottom of the hoodie sits comparatively low on the waist, but I am finding I like this. It fits well! Note that at least in this color, there is no Squak patch on the shoulder as I see in some of the older reviews--the only brand identity is on a tag front-bottom-left, which I find clean and subtle. Personally, I find this hoodie aesthetically nice enough to wear out casually, and have worn it running errands and going to church in addition to while hiking and walking.

Normally I get an L but due to other reviews I ordered an L and an XL to see which fit better and am sticking with the XL as it leaves room for a layer underneath. The L is skintight on me, though not uncomfortable. For reference I am 5'11" and about 200 lbs. This is in contrast to the Squak Crew which fits well in L for me at about the same looseness.

In my experience so far, I wore it on a 2 hour leisurely hike around 60 degrees in the shade, minimal breeze with a t-shirt underneath and was very warm, almost but not quite to the point of taking it off (my wife did take off her squak crew). As I'm writing this I am comfortably wearing this with nothing under it at about 68 degrees. Yesterday I wore it around 30 degrees on its own, though that felt too cold especially with a penetrating wind. Threw a shirt on underneath and went out a bit later and was cool but comfortable. So I guess I'd say the upper limit for me for wearing this as a baselayer is about 70, and the lower limit as an outer layer is about 35. Ofc if I put a wind jacket or a puffy over it (and treated it as a midlayer which is what it is designed for) I would certainly take it lower. This makes the cut for an upcoming hiking trip to Wales for me!

It should be said that I got this after my wife liked the squak crew I ordered so much she took it for herself!

Hey Caleb! We're stoked you're loving your new hoodie! It sounds like it's already seen some great adventures, from trails to town. We really appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the 'Stormcloud Grey' – we love that name! It's awesome to hear how the details like the thumb holes and hood cinch are working out for you. And yes, that comfy fabric is a winner! Thanks for the feedback on sizing too, it helps others find their perfect fit. Happy trails, and enjoy Wales! We're thrilled you're part of the Squak community. ⛰️
