Adventure First Program

Before we carry on, here’s the deal.

We started Adventure First because we love seeing people experience the outdoors for the very first time—that spark, that “whoa, I just did that” feeling. It’s what keeps us stoked.

Life gets busy, but when you choose to make it an adventure, you find more joy, more connection, and a little more magic in the everyday.

There are two ways to jump in:

  1. Share your adventures.
Submit a photo of you doing something adventury—big or small, new or old—and you’ll be entered to win a $50 Squak gift card each month. Plus, we might feature your story to inspire others to get outside too.
  2. Tell us about an adventure you (or someone you know) wants to try.
We occasionally sponsor a few first adventures each year—think a ski day, backpacking trip, or class you’ve always wanted to take. No pros, no pressure, just helping people take that first leap.

Now this is what Squak’s all about — helping people feel at home outside, one new adventure at a time.

Share Your Adventures— Win Gear

Submit a photo (or a few!) of you doing something adventury — big or small. Every month, we randomly pick one submission to receive a $50 Squak gift card. (Bonus points if it was a first!)

Sponsored Adventures

Ever wanted to try something new — your first backpacking trip, paddleboard class, or guided hike — but didn’t know where to start?

Nominate yourself (or someone else!) for a Sponsored Adventure — we occasionally pick a few folks to help make their first big adventure happen.

Snow at Bear Butte

"We spent Spring Break driving around the Dakotas and stumbled upon Bear Butte! Bear Butte is a sacred geological formation in South Dakota, known as a laccolith, formed by magma that cooled and hardened beneath the surface, with overlying rock eroding away over time. It is a significant spiritual site for many Native American tribes, who visit for prayer, vision quests, and ceremonies, leaving prayer cloths and bundles on the trees. It had snowed the night before which added a nice slip to the climb up!" - Amanda

50k Ultramarathon

"I’d always been intimidated by the Crown King Scramble 50k ultramarathon. It’s 31 miles up 6,800 feet of gain. So I decided to attempt it. After slogging up the final hill thinking I wouldn’t make it to the finish line by the cut off, I cranked out a run for the final two miles and made it with four minutes to spare, defying all my doubts and proving to myself what I’m capable of." - Rachel

9,000+ ft Elevation Gain

"First time hiking Dog Mountain, notorious for its shorter distance but steep climb up. Took on the challenge of covering every trail up and summited 3 times! Had over 9,100 feet of elevation gain which was a record for me!" - Staci

Bear Tour In Alaska

"I went on a bear tour in Homer, Alaska. We landed on a beach in a float plane and hiked out onto the beach. A mom and her 2 cubs approached us (clamming). We kneeled on the beach for an hour, until finally crawling away. Our guide said in 17 years, this was the closest she'd come to." - Brittney

Bike-packing Adventure

"Still relatively new to bikepacking, this was my 3rd trip and the first in the middle of the winter in the desert. I bought my Squak for this trip, since I needed an active layer that would be good for warmth and layering at night, but wearable while riding. Can't say enough good things about this hoodie, now it's as much of a staple for me around town as it is out on an adventure." - Jack

First time losing a boat

"...On the last morning, we woke up to one of the rafts missing from the beach, our boat. My buddy had moved the boat up the beach and forgot to tie it off. It floated about 2 miles downriver with my hunting gear, life jackets, and extra food on it...One of the group's more agile members ran down the riverbank for his morning exercise and found the raft bobbing against some rocks. He came back with our life jackets, and we hopped onto other boats until we were reunited with our vessel...It was a great trip, one we hope to do again in a couple of years." - Geoff

Snowshoeing with Daughter

"My wife, my daughter, and I went out for snowshoeing after a day of heavy snow. It just to be the 4th anniversary of my dad's passing, whose dream was to do something active like this with me and my siblings. He wasn't able to do it with disability. The snowshoeing trip with my family reminded me of what my dad would've liked. It's like carrying out his dream." - Harry
